Field of application > Transmission Lines / Electricity Utilities
For transmission and distribution lines company FLI-MAP provides accurate engineering information of existing
lines, or to compare as-is situations with as-built or as-planned situations. Assets and their relation to surroundings are
recorded so the same dataset can be used for encroachment and clearance studies. Further the enormous point density makes it
possible to also survey distribution lines from the air.
Some application possibilities in the transmission line industry
FLI-MAP can provide accurate terrain models that can be used to study the exact positions of the overhead poles, attachment points
and the catenary model of the conductors. Specialized design software can calculate the actual condition of the conductor for
different environmental situations and energy loads. This knowledge can result in significant cost and performance improvements on
maintenance and planning.
FLI-MAP data forms the foundation for a wide variety of applications:
- Thermal rating and capacity studies
- Overhead clearance infringement studies
- Planning of tower locations on new routes
- As-built surveys
- Rebuild and reconductor projects
- Calculation of uneven leg extensions
- Catenary analysis.
The data processing software FLIP7 enables the automatic filtering, extrusion and mapping of objects from the
data. End products can be delivered in any preferred CAD or GIS format, including PLS-CADD, DART, FM-Profil, Seil++, TLCADD or any
other AM/FM application.
