September 8th, 2009 - Fugro establishes an aerial mapping company in Denmark
As part of Fugro’s strategy to expand its Aerial Mapping services business in Europe, Fugro acquired in February the assets
of the international aerial survey business of Arcadis, which formerly traded under the name ‘KLM Aerocarto’. The assets
involved include two survey aircraft and various sensors.
Furthermore early summer Fugro also acquired three survey aircraft, various sensors and other related equipment which were
formerly owned by the company Scankort A/S. To provide Aerial Imagery and LiDAR services in Scandinavia, a new Fugro company
has been established in Denmark, called Fugro Aerial Mapping A/S.
In total the European airborne fleet of Fugro consists of six aircraft: one Piper Aztech, two Piper Chieftains, one Piper
Navajo, one Partenavia and one Cessna.
With the two DMC’s (Digital Mapping Camera) and the one already being owned and operated by Fugro BKS, large photogrammetric
projects can be executed allocating one or more aircraft throughout Europe.
On both Piper Chieftain aircraft two sensors can be installed simultaneously, for example a DMC and the FLI-MAP system. This
is very useful for those projects requiring two different data capturing techniques (photogrammetry and LiDAR). However it is
also a benefit from a logistic point of view, which can result in cost saving for the client. Both sensors do not need to be
exchanged, but can be operated simultaneously and be activated depending on the specific project requirements.
These aircraft can fly at 350 km/hour and have a large range of approximately 1800 kilometers. Therefore also projects located
far away from the base can be reached enabling that from Teuge airport (the Netherlands), Roskilde airport (Denmark) and Belfast
airport (Northern Ireland) photogrammetric and LiDAR work can be executed in the whole of Europe.
August 1st, 2009 - Personnel
On August 1st, William Waggeveld joint Fugro Aerial Mapping BV as Sales Manager. After 3.5 years working as Sales & Product Manager,
William was looking for a new challenge in a highly professional surrounding.
New business development and managing projects have been his main business in the past and as sales manager at Fugro Aerial Manager,
he will get the opportunity to build further on his experience and knowledge to present and offer the innovative FLI-MAP possibilities
to clients throughout Europe.
His primary focus will be expanding the current business into new product/market combinations at both existing and new clients in Europe.
Besides his degree in Geodetics, William studied Business Economics at "De Vrije Universiteit" in Amsterdam.

April 1st, 2009 - Fugro acquires VIB Weinhold in Germany
Fugro has acquired 'VIB Weinhold', a leading supplier of pipeline survey services with an annual revenue of about EUR
3 million and 26 employees based in Erkelenz, a town situated in the western part of Germany between Düsseldorf and Aachen.
VIB Weinhold was established in 1993 and while operating primarily in Germany is increasingly active internationally. The company's activities comprise the planning,
survey and documentation of transport and distribution networks, gas plants and power plants for private and public energy companies, as well as the development of software systems to handle
related documentation and site management.
The company will be renamed Fugro Weinhold Engineering GmbH with the founder Wolfgang Weinhold as Managing Director.
The global market for infrastructure surveys and related services is one of a number of focus areas for Fugro, not only in terms of Geospatial Services but also Geotechnical Services.
VIB Weinhold has a well established reputation and will facilitate Fugro's further growth in the onshore pipeline and power plant sectors.
Since 2002 VIB Weinhold is a partner of Fugro Aerial Mapping and together more then 1500 km of both existing as well as new to be build pipelines in Germany have been surveyed and
processed into client deliverables.

Since September 2008 the new FLI-MAP system is operational. This new system is called the FLI-MAP 1000 system and integrates the latest state of the art technology into one system. Main characteristics are the new possibilities of the LiDAR scanner;
- the possibility to choose for the 150,000 Hz scan-rate or the 250,000 Hz scan-rate. This increased scan rate of 250 KHz this will make it possible for
the system to fly much faster while maintaining a high point density.
- a Multiple Pulse in Air technique (MPiA) KHz). This MPiA technique makes it possible that the scanner sends out a next pulse even before the previous
has returned. This makes it possible to increase the altitude while maintaining the high scan rate.
- The combination of higher scan rate with the MPiA technique will cause hardly any compromise on maximum flight altitude while using the high scan frequency
option.
- collects data up to a flight altitude of more than 950 m without problems using the MPiA technique without compromising the accuracies FLI-MAP system is
famous for.
- real-time laser point RGB encoding. This new feature of the system will allow for direct on the fly encoding of RGB color values for each laser point.
This will allow the operator to have a better view on the data while capturing and after the flight the color attribute data is directly available without the need for additional processing.
